TRUTH...IS THE END OF THE WORLD
The Italian movie Il Divo is simply astonishing. One of the best movies ever made.

The director, Paolo Sorrentino, managed to make a dazzling movie about a reserved, bland career politician.

Guilio Andreotti was a fixture on the Italian political scene from the Post-WWII until the 90’s. He was a member of the Christian Democrats, the center-right party.

In a previous thread, I discussed the P2 Masonic Lodge and the head of the lodge, Licio Gelli.

What Il Divo postulates is that Gelli was only the nominal leader.
The real leader was Guilio Andreotti.

Andreotti was responsible for implementing the “strategy of tension.”
From 1968-84, Italy was rocked by terrorist attacks from both the extreme left and right.

The accusation is that the extreme groups were infiltrated by agent provocateurs who encouraged the groups to commit acts of terror.

The resulting tension was so unbearable that Italian voters looked to the moderate an reliable Christian Democrats to ease the tension.

The highlight of the movie is a monologue in which Andreotti confessing his part in the strategy. He’s speaking to his wife, though she’s not present.

He's talking directly to the audience. He’s talking to us, the innocent.
We have “no idea the deeds power must commit.”

“Truth...is the end of the world.”
That line blows me away. I think about it a lot. Do I want to know the truth? Do people who follow me on twitter want to know the truth? Are we better off not knowing the truth?

I know I’m making the movie sounds really dark. It is dark, but it is also light.

While there is violence in the film, it’s also humorous and strangely quirky. Stylistically, similar to Scorese’s Goodfellas and The Wolf of Wall Street.

ADDENDUM
Someone from Spygate makes an appearance in the movie - Vincenzo Scotti.
Scotti is the current president of Link University.
He introduced PapaD to Joseph Mifsud, at least that’s what PapaD claims.

That’s consistent with the Scotti as he presents himself in his book on his war with the Mafia.
