Dear friends: I want to thank Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Bernadette, and you, for your prayers over the last six weeks of radiation, which ended today. I count those prayers as the reason I was able to do this with minimum side effects, and I'm very grateful. As I mentioned...

...before, my dislike of talking about my health was outweighed by my desire for prayers. And since so many asked: I had a benign (repeat: benign) tumor removed from my neck and the standard procedure to ensure that even the benign cells don't return is radiation. So I'm fine.

I'm also very grateful to the team at New York-Presbyterian Hospital @nyphospital and Weill Cornell Medicine @WeillCornell. The physicians are wise and skillful, and my radiation team was amazing for 33 days straight: warm, cheerful, friendly, supportive, helpful. Thank you!

And thanks to the Dominicans at St. Catherine of Siena Church on 68th and York for keeping your church open for all the patients in the many hospitals in the neighborhood, and for providing me with a beautiful place to pray every morning. I know every inch of your church now!

Most of all, I give thanks to Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette Soubirous for their prayers and companionship, and to anyone who is reading this who prayed for me. Thank you.
