Amongst many other concerns this raises the government shouldn’t be producing media for the public without clearly marking it’s from the government. This is like 1960s CIA tactics but being used domestically and focussed on Muslims. Totally mindblowing
It’s also called ‘Woke’, which should itself be a crime under anti-terror laws
I get that it’s an important element of counter terrorism strategy to counter Internet radicalisation. But surely there are better ways of doing that than setting up fake news sites? Eg investing in grass roots orgs, openly? Though I guess that would undermine their credibility
But ultimately the damage done by this kind of secretive effort being exposed in terms of trust must be worse as a risk than the potential benefit of the tactic itself
