Trump slightly modifies his tariff rhetoric again. He falsely tells reporters, as usual, that consumers aren't paying, but he adds that at some point they might have to, and "they understand that."

Trump says he does not want to see a violent crackdown in Hong Kong. He says he put out "a little bit of a memo" on this issue last night, apparently referring to his tweet. He says it really seems like this issue could be "worked out pretty easily."
Trump warns China that you ain't seen nothin' yet on trade: "Just so you understand: I've been very mild about it. Very, very mild. There's a long way I can go," he says.
Trump says he doesn't "encourage or discourage" Israel to let in Omar and Tlaib, then says it'd be "terrible" for Israel to let them in.
Asked if Steve King should resign, Trump says these things in rapid succession: "I don't know the situation with Steve King"; I've read the statement; I haven't been briefed on the statement; it certainly wasn't a good statement.
Trump says that mass shooters are mentally ill, that nobody talks about this, and that he thinks that we should "start building institutions again."
"We have to open up institutions," he adds.
Trump, more vaguely than usual this time, repeats his lie that he would've won New Hampshire if not for thousands of people coming into the state from locations unknown although he knows the locations. As always, there's zero evidence for this conspiracy theory.
Asked if he supports universal background checks, Trump says, "I support strong, meaningful background checks."
