The bottom line is this: natural selection is one of the most robust laws of nature that we have discovered. 1/n

The original idea laid out in the Origin of Species remains correct, and was consolidated during the Modern Synthesis in the 20th C, and then yet again with the advent of genetics and genomics 2/n

It is highly unlikely that it will be overturned as a theory that describes the evolution of life, because thousands of people have spent millions of hours trying to, and it remains the only game in town. 3/n

Furthermore, because of its robustness as a law of nature, there is no necessity for an alternative theory, though there is much yet to find out 4/n

So if you want to challenge our contemporary understanding of evolution, you had better come with some big guns. These recent discussions, they brought a nail file to a gun fight. 5/n

Why, I have no idea. Questioning the status quo or established ideas is what all scientists should do. But when you come at the king, you best not miss. 6//6
