Here's a lovely new thread about anti-Semitic attacks in NYC this year alone.

1st, let's recap Jan and early Feb:

33 anti-Semitic hate crimes reported in NYC, of 55 hate crimes reported total.

Incidents include Orthodox Jews beaten, choked, chased.

Extend that range until the end of April 2019 and the number rises to 82 reported anti-Jewish hate crimes in NYC (of 145 total).

NYC hate crime stats aren't out yet for May, June, July and August. But since April, here are just a few of the incidents we've reported:

In May:

In Williamsburg, two Hasidic men were punched in the head unprovoked. One was called a "f---ing Jew."

In Borough Park, folks in a passing car shouted “Do you know Hitler? We love Hitler!” at two Hasidic teens.

“'Hitler is coming' was found on a billboard designed for comments by visitors to the Brooklyn Jewish Children’s Museum."

In June:

"A man waiting for a subway train in Brooklyn, New York shouted anti-Semitic slurs at a fellow-rider and then threw the Jewish man’s cellphone on the tracks in an attempt to destroy a recording of his tirade."

In August:

Dozens of anti-Semitic flyers were found in Queens. "The image on the flyer shows a man’s head with a kippah on top of it that has a Star of David in the middle. The words 'Worthless F—ing Cancer Filled Jew' is printed over the image."

In 2018 NYC:
• 353 total hate crime complaints were made. 186 had anti-Jewish bias
• 69 (37%) of 2018’s anti-Jewish hate crime reports resulted in an arrest
• Three precincts with large Hasidic populations, all in Brooklyn, reported the most anti-Jewish hate crimes (7-9 each)

And, another incident today in Crown Heights:

The victim, age 64, is the father-in-law of @BennysMusic, a popular Hasidic musician.

Of the 69 anti-Jewish hate crime reports in NYC that resulted in an arrest:
40 perps were white
25 were black
2 were Hispanic
2 were Asian

There were 1,879 anti-Semitic acts in the US in 2018 per @ADL

249 (13%) were attributable to known extremist groups/individuals inspired by extremist ideology

@orensegal told me in April that all 249 of those were carried out by white supremacists
