Headed to #APSA2019 and Interested in conflict, prejudice reduction, and field-experiments in MENA? Join us on Thursday, 2:00pm at Hilton (Jefferson West). @aasiegel @salma_mousa_ @David_Romney and I will present our papers, @zeitzoff will discuss, and Donald Green will chair.

I enjoyed reading the other papers on my panel a lot, and I learnt so much from their creative takes on conflict, prejudice reduction and experimental design. So here are very brief summaries of the paper on the panel:

@aasiegel will present evidence from an experiment in the Arab twitter-sphere + survey experiment in 🇱🇧 demonstrating that elite-endorsed messages that prime common religious identity reduce hate speech online.

@salma_mousa_ will present her field experiment on intergroup contact and social cohesion in 🇮🇶. She shows that assigning Christians displaced by ISIS to ⚽️ teams with Muslims affects a host of behavioral outcomes well after the league is over.

@David_Romney will present his work on in-group policing in Israel. Through a unique experimental design, he demonstrates that moral/practical frames of persuasion increase support for policing, but moral frames can hurt a critic's credibility.

Lastly, I leverage the random assignment of Jewish patients to Arab/Pal doctors in 21 🏥 in 🇮🇱 to identify the fx of intergroup contact on prejudice . I show that brief contact with an Arab/Pal👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ reduces prejudice amongst Jewish patients
