It's been a slow summer for the #CryptoArchives, but I think this autumn is going to bring a torrent of new papers and insights for us to include.
Today I made a new commit with a few of my favorite papers from the last month, let's dive in! 👇0/7

First up, we have a new addition to the Zero Knowledge Argument Systems section: PLONK from @aztecprotocol!
This paper presents a universal fully-succinct zk-SNARK with significantly improved prover run time compared to fully-succinct Sonic. 1/7
Next, we added "ETHDKG: Distributed Key Generation with Ethereum Smart Contracts." A non-interactive DKG that works in Byzantine environments has been a white whale for cryptographers since Gennaro's paper in 2006. 2/7
These researchers have an optimized implementation working on Ethereum's Ropsten testnet today! It supports up to 256 participants with the current gas limit. 3/7

In our Leaderless Consensus Models section, we have a new addition from @Aleph__Zero: "Aleph: Efficient Atomic Broadcast in Asynchronous Networks with Byzantine Nodes". This improves upon HoneyBadgerBFT in some very important ways. 4/7
Finally, we added a cautionary paper to our Governance section titled "Pause the Blockchain Legal Revolution". The authors critically evaluate the potential of blockchain technologies to disrupt the legal system. 5/7

As always, please tag any authors that I have omitted (this week's entries were tough to find on Twitter), and please feel free to recommend any papers or blogs that might be a good fit! The #CryptoArchives are a community resource, take advantage! 6/7
