.@fabiogiglietto presenting now about “understandying coordinated link sharing behaviour on Facebook” during the italian election (supported by the @ssrc_org grant) #aoir2019

So first question he asks is “what is coordinated inauthentic behavior”? Th is focus marks a shift from content to process in fighting disinformation #aoir2019

The theoretical framework he is using to define authenticity and coordination in this context #aoir2019

He argues it is important to understand these behaviors because personal influence is pervasive and people often receive political info without even being aware it is propaganda. #aoir2019

He is using an algorithm (available to reuse) to identify multiple groups sharing the same stories in a short period of time #aoir2019 (the problem is the access to Facebook data). They had access to CrowdTangle.

They detected coordinated networks, both political, mixed and non-political #aoir2019

These coordinated networks were effective in promoting this content and also shared “problematic information” (aka disinformation). #aoir2019
