The state rested today in the #DanMarkel murder trial and so too did the #SigfredoGarcia defense. It appears the jury may get the case at some point tomorrow. A few summary observations from the day. (short thread)

/ Thematically unimpressed by defense efforts to impeach or otherwise poke holes in the FBI's contributions to the investigation. Attorney demeanor matters in the jury's eyes and, at points today, the defense appeared aggressive and argumentative--to its detriment.

/ Arguably the most impactful evidence from the state came from its (further) ability to tie money flowing through #CharlieAdelson's dentistry to #KatherineMagbanua.

/ Evidence during the #SigfredoGarcia defense presentation revealed that #CharlieAdelson deleted 1800 messages from May to July of 2014.

/ Closing comment: I have been concerned during the trial about the decision to try both jointly. During the Garcia defense, I felt vaguely like the strategy was to point more directly to Magbanua. That illustrates why these two should have been tried separately to begin with.
