We're getting ready for #StateOpening tomorrow.

Come behind the scenes with us in this thread to see some of the symbols involved in the ceremony ⬇️

#StateOpening is a ceremonial event which marks the first day of a new parliamentary session. It begins with the Queen's procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster, and culminates with the Queen’s Speech, in which Her Majesty sets out the Government’s proposed legislation.

These photos show the Imperial State Crown, and the The Cap of Maintenance and the Great Sword of State  #StateOpening

Here are the Yeomen of the Guard checking the cellars, recalling the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605  #StateOpening

And this is the Black Rod. Black Rod is the Queen’s representative in UK Parliament and at State Opening they’re sent to summon the @HouseofCommons  #StateOpening
