🎉Today is Pharmacy Technician Day, and once again, we're delighted to feature some of our fab pharmacy techs on our feed!
We'll be posting a few pictures of the team and letting you know a bit more about their work...#RXTechDay
First up is Suja, who is an educational supervisor. Suja is currently supervising Renata, who’s undertaking the @HEE_LaSEPharm Medicines Optimisation Course to become a clinical pharmacy technician
When she completes the course Renata will be assigned her own ward #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm Gabriela is on the @cppeengland Accuracy Checking course, which requires her to accurately check 1000 items & complete a final assessment to become an ACPT.
She will then be allowed to final check prescriptions that have been clinically screened by a pharmacist. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland Tyrone is our Senior Homecare Pharmacy Technician. He ensures our homecare orders are properly invoiced & patients receive their medicines promptly.
Our homecare service helps prevent unnecessary hospital visits for patients who are stable on long term medicines #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland This is our non-sterile lab, where Ashley is supervising the preparation of medication.
Strict protocols are in place to ensure that doses aren’t contaminated and all staff must ‘gown up’ in a special area before entering the room. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland Avril is one of our patient services pharmacy technicians and is currently working in our clinical trials pharmacy.
Clinical trials ensure that a medication is safe and effective before it receives a license, and all trials must be documented thoroughly. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland Sophie is currently working with our infectious disease team and her duties involve helping to run the Courtyard pharmacy, which is a specialist dispensary.
She ensures we have a good supply of critical medications and liaises with other teams to help coordinate care. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland Our main pharmacy is run by Theresa, who joined the Trust last year.
She manages a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and Assistant Technical Officers (ATOs) who work together to ensure prescriptions are dispensed accurately and reach patients promptly. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland Here’s one of our future pharmacy technicians! Dharen has just started the second year of his course and should qualify next summer.
He will then register with @TheGPhC and legally be allowed to use the pharmacy technician title. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland @TheGPhC Ewelina is performing a ‘POD’ check, which is an assessment of the Patient’s Own Drugs to ensure all medications are current, in date and labelled correctly.
If any issues are identified Ewelina will make the patient aware and order replacement medication if needed. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland @TheGPhC Charlotte is our Clinical Operations Manager.
She plays an important role in service development and optimisation and helps to ensure the department has a responsive approach to any changes in the wider healthcare world. #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland @TheGPhC Emma is our ePMA (electronic prescribing and medicines administration) pharmacy technician & was involved in the roll out of our new medication & records system.
She helps colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team with queries and helps train staff on its use #RxTechDay
@HEE_LaSEPharm @cppeengland @TheGPhC Mollie is our first Clinical Transcribing Pharmacy Technician and she co-ordinates discharge prescriptions between the wards and the departure lounge.
She is being trained to transcribe these prescriptions to facilitate this process and support patient flow. #RxTechDay
