THE MEITEI HINDUS NEED OUR HELP

The Meitei Hindus' call for help has been ignored for a long time. It's time we understand what are they facing, and make people aware about it.

The Meitei Hindus are a tribe in Manipur who have been Vaishnavites for a long time.
In ancient times, they used to follow Sanamahism, a form of nature worship. Hinduism appealed to them because of their similarities.

One of their unique features of their culture is a form of Ras-lila, using their traditional wear, the Potloi.

The Ras-lila tells the story depicting the love story of Radha and Krishna.

And now, they are facing one of the biggest threats to their existence, thanks to the Xtian tribes like Nagas and Mizos, that constantly threaten them to either convert or die, as well as the indifference of some of the other Hindus

Let's understand what is exactly going on.

The Meiteis live in this tiny valley at the centre, where the capital Imphal lies, surrounded by hills on all sides, which are occupied by the Christian Naga tribes.

Have you ever seen such a map, where a constituency is surrounded on all sides by another constituency?

This is the condition of Manipur, where the Meiteis live in this "Inner Manipur" area, while the Xtian Nagas live in the "Outer Manipur" area.

And the Xtian Nagas use this to their advantage.

Also note that the Nagas have ST status, but the Meiteis don't have, which is double bonanza for the Nagas!

The ST status for Meiteis are still now in the "consideration" stage in the Centre!

And..... The Nagas do not want that to happen.

Why lose the golden egg, isn't it?

So the "Manipur Tribal Body" which actually contains Nagas, are opposing this move!

So much so that they are on a mission to "starve" the Meitei Hindus.

Look here, to travel to Guwahati from Imphal, you can take 2 routes.

1) passes through "friendly territory" of Assam.

2) passes through Nagaland, the people of which they have this rift.

So the natural choice would be the Route 1 above. This route has become the arterial route for the Meitei Hindus.

And here, the Nagas rule the roost. Because they live in the hills, they block this route, thereby preventing food, medicines and other supplies to reach the Meiteis

Currently, this is a life-or-death situation for the Hindus in that region.

Some of them are now saying that if the Central Govt. doesn't pay heed to their plight, they won't be able to fight for too long, and they might get converted soon.

Also, there has been rumours of the Centre mulling over giving some amount of Manipur territory to Nagaland in the #NagaPeaceTalks, in the hopes that the NSCN(IM) will surrender once and for all.

Is this what we expect from a government who talked about Hindutva?

I didn't expect someone, whose ancestors faced similar circumstances under the hands of Saint Xavier, during the Goan Inquisition, to be so indifferent to their brethren living in another place in India.

This has forced me to write a thread on the Meitei Hindu crisis.

IMHO, this should be called a crisis situation.

If we continue to ignore them, sooner or later they will face the same fate as the Kashmiri Hindus.

It's my earnest request to all Hindus 🙏🏻

Please knock the doors of our Central Govt. Wake the ministers up. Tell them that we are facing this crisis.

How can Ram-Rajya be established if it's own people are suffering?

Protect this beautiful community from total destruction by the marauders 🙏🏻

Though I am not a Meitei Hindu, this is my request to my Hindu brethren, on the behalf of the Meitei Hindu community, to help them out. 🙏🏻
