Today is a tipping point for value-based care in #NC. @AtriumHealth and @NovantHealth are now part of #BluePremier, our value-based program that holds health systems and @BlueCrossNC jointly accountable for better health outcomes and lower costs. bit.ly/2QaTtnP

This means we’re on track to have 50% of members served by providers in value-based agreements in 2020 – the most rapid and comprehensive shift to value-based payment by any US health plan.

To hit this goal, we have three tracks – health systems, independent primary care, and advanced primary care.

Track 1: There are 10 health systems in #NC with revenue over $1B – and 7 of them are in #BluePremier.

We commend these systems for their unprecedented level of commitment to value: @AtriumHealth @NovantHealth @ConeHealth @DukeHealth @UNC_Health_Care @wakehealth @WakeMed (WKCC).

Track 2: In parallel, we are continuing our aggressive strategy to support independent primary care and advanced primary care providers. Independent PCPs continue to join #BluePremier as physician-led ACOs through our partnership with @AledadeACO.

Track 3: Through our partnership, @cityblockhealth, @CareMoreHealth, and @iorahealth have opened clinics and will serve @BlueCrossNC Medicare members and in some cases Medicaid members in 2020. bit.ly/33zW6nh

Eventually, we’re working to expand advanced primary care to high-risk, high-need commercial members as well.

We aim to deliver medical cost savings of up to 15% over 10 years. But how? For all 3 tracks, our #BluePremier partners will accept two-sided risk arrangements. Fee schedules are flat unless providers commit to manage total cost of care and quality.

The providers in #BluePremier are willing to make this full-on organizational commitment – we celebrate them today. 🤝🤝 🎉 🎉

We are setting the pace of health care transformation in #NC because our members cannot afford for us to slow down. We moved quickly from concept to implementation of #BluePremier and have pushed for provider accountability in ways few payers are willing to do.
