#MUOS1 is on the move as noted by @astrobrock. I aimed the S-band dish low to my western horizon and noted her in 'storage mode' as can be seen by the 600 second period of its carrier. During MUOS5's trip to GEO we correlated this to optical characteristics of s/c rotation rate.
#MUOS are based on the Boeing A2100 satellite bus. We have seen others of this type perform similarly. SDS-3, GOES etc. We first got a good look during the near miss with #MUOS5. MUOS5 is effectively stranded at ~106W. spaceflight101.com/spacecraft/muo…
Here's a plot of the locations of what I believe are active MUOS and UFO satellites. The #MUOS system seems to be leaving the slot out over the central pacific to the UFOs. I wonder where #MUOS3 is going?
And of course the STRF plot of the same data noted in the plots above. I use a hybrid to split the RF to two receivers and if you use #gqrx on one you can easily record the IQ stream and view it later. So you can view data live and record for later quantitative analysis.
Meanwhile to my east #AEHF5 is making a break for it as it too drifts eastward. Note while in transit it doesn't have a sinusoidal freq characteristic like #MUOS @BoeingSpace. @LockheedMartin @northropgrumman kit here. Still rising to sync MM or on the move? Comments?
