It’s terrible what happened in Birmingham and my best wishes go out to anyone injured.

However, I have to speak up about the subsequent ban.

HOW @vuecinemas thought that banning @RealRapman ‘s film in ALL of their cinemas was proportionate, fair or rational is beyond me!?

The film does NOT promote gang violence. The message is literally the opposite... it’s a film promoting love and encourages young people to recognise that youth violence is tearing families apart...

This incident also took place (from the news reports) OUTSIDE of the cinema... and so I am CONFUSED as to how the causal link has been established here...

Even if this began in the screening (which I’m sure someone will tell me, if so) it is DISPROPRTIONATE and UNFAIR to ban this film from all cinemas. This same measure was NOT taken when there was a shooting WHILE PEOPLE WERE WATCHING BATMAN... this:

google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.…

The Joker came out this year and there was a huge amount of violence in the film and even calls for precautions to be made in relation to the Batman incident above - see the link! The joker was shown widely across the UK & in Vue!!!

This is a film made by Black people about Black people and it’s totally unsurprising that people feel that this response is DISCRIMINATORY.
