@gunsnrosesgirl3 In 2011 Dr. Peter Gleick was the climate movement's top ethicist: Chairman of @theAGU's Task Force on Scientific Ethics. While Chairman he hatched a scheme to smear a free-market think tank, Chicago's @HeartlandInst, because they oppose climate alarmism.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst 1st Gleick committed identity theft, impersonating a Heartland Board Member to steal internal info. Then he forged a fake Heartland "confidential strategy memo," full of fictional evil plotting, & sprinkled with info he took from the stolen documents, to make it seem authentic.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst Then, on Feb. 14, 2012 Gleick "leaked" the forgery (and the stolen real documents) to the press, via DeSmogBlog, while posing as an anonymous "Heartland insider."

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst The left-wing "mainstream" press had a field day, spreading the smear about Heartland. But within a few days he had been caught, tripped up by the identifiable idiosyncrasies of his own writing, in the forged document.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst If "ethics" and honesty were really "a thing" in climate science and liberal American political circles, that would have been the end of Gleick's career. He might be out on parole, by now.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst Gleick could have spent 22 yrs in prison for the crimes he admitted, not even including forgery. But the Obama-appointed US Attorney for the Northern Illinois protected Gleick, stonewalling & refusing to prosecute an open-and-shut case until the statute of limitations ran out.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst The AGU let him “resign” for “personal, private reasons” as chair of AGU’s Task Force on Scientific Ethics, and did not even revoke his AGU membership. Late that year they honored him with an invited speaking engagement at AGU12.

The NAS did not revoke his membership, either.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst Just under a year after he was caught, National Geographic rewarded him with a new blog at their prestigious (but now thankfully defunct) ScienceBlogs subsidiary.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst Gleick's "Pacific Institute" 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation briefly suspended him as President, but quickly reinstated him. In 2012 they paid him total compensation of over $142,000. The following year they paid him total compensation of nearly $168,000.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst @SciAm and NASA's Gavin Schmidt minimized Gleick's crimes, while attacking Gleick's victims. Michael Mann and the Huffington Post still sing Gleick's praises; Mann even called Gleick "one of the most respected scientists in the country."

@gunsnrosesgirl3 @theAGU @HeartlandInst @sciam The crimes of the Climate Movement's hypocritical, former top ethicist, Dr. Peter Gleick, significantly eroded public trust in scientists, and in science, itself.
