They actually think the problem is we don't understand the importance of education

The problem is the systems that fail our children & families.

Not who does & doesn't understand the value of education.

This statement is a form of what @DrIbram calls Behavioral Racism.

@DrIbram In his latest book @DrIbram also points out that the #achievementgap framing is a racist framing. It supposes that the issue is with the students &not the test. This has been used ever since the advent of the IQ test to justify a racial hierarchy.

A hierarchy built in part on the idea that disparities in academic achievement accurately reflect disparities in intellect, instead of looking at the structural failures our system of racist policies has created.

I summarize @DrIbram's position on educational disparities as such:

We need to standardize opportunity, not tests.
