So very happy to see all the actions that have taken place to support the prisoners in Mississippi. Last April, a man who had just got out of prison, reached out to me
He said he had photos and videos that show horrendous conditions in SMCI and Parchman. He said it was time to make it all public and that too many were dying in MS. Prisons.
We expected bad- but this was a whole other level.
MS. was caging people in third world country type facilities. Old, unrepaired, ignored, filthy, crumbling prisons.
We were successful In letting the world see the conditions of the prisons.
We were not successful in getting MS. State government to act. In fact, we were pretty much ignored. @FAMMFoundation called for a federal investigation, and nothing happened.
We all knew Mississippi was a powder keg; it was going to blow- we just didn’t know when.
Dec. 29th MS. blew, and almost a month later, we have national attention. Still not much from the state...but they are in the hot seat now- no longer can this crisis be ignored.
