One of the most significant traits I observe in those who i respect, admire and feel comfortable with is their sense of personal agency and responsibility including when they commit an error or wrong someone.
Conscientiousness is such an attractive trait. Fast vanishing though.
The opposite also holds true, in a manner of speaking. Those lacking in personal agency often end up doing the most cruelest of deeds - there is no internal inhibitory system in them, I guess.
At the extreme end of this spectrum lies #psychopaths
Most of the problems facing humanity are at its heart problems related to ethics, virtue and values.The intellectual class vacated the arena under the illusion of "there is no right or wrong" and "don't be judgmental".
The extremists from Left and Right, moved in.They always do.
Vacuum hates a vacuum.
The Left moves in with its own set of dogmatic,self-serving, murderous values,ethics and virtues.
The Right moves in with its own set of dogmatic,self-serving, murderous values,ethics and virtues.
Neither set complies to the Kantian categorical imperative.
Both sets of values are abt power,suppression,intolerance - neither meets the criteria of protecting individual life,liberty, property & pursuit of happiness.
They just try to impose whatever capricious degraded values they stand for - grounded in ideologies red in tooth n claw.
