Quick thread on #Jamia since there's so much floating around.

I spent around 6 hours there today, starting from the afternoon, with my colleagues @adnanabidi and @dansiddiqui.

We didn't see/experience:

1. Any lathicharge
2. Any chemical substances

#CAA_NRCProtests

A large group of protesters spent several hours pushing at police, many in riot gear, at a barricade.

In the tussle, many protesters fainted, and were quickly moved out of the site by ambulances.

Some may have been injured in scuffles.

The police, far better equipped with seemingly new riot gear, was more restrained that I've seen in the past, including at #Jamia itself.

I didn't see them spray any substance, or use water cannons.

I spent many hours just meters away from the barricades myself.

Ends.

Also, useful thread by @Zebaism here, who went to the hospital and made checks.

And more, with footage shot by an Indian Express reporter.

To end (again) since I'm getting tagged in multiple posts/replies, this is not to say that police did not use force.

I am only pointing out what we saw. Specifically:

1. No lathicharge
2. No chemical substances

Fin.
