Who knew the general election defeat was coming? Lisa and Emily put their hands up. Keir and RLB don't. #BBCNewsnight

Lisa Nandy seems very nervous.

Starmer seeks to "correct the record" on the "idea that we haven't spoken out" on antisemitism. Thornberry says she and Starmer both spoke out in shad cab. Asked, Rebecca didn't? "Rebecca did, I think you’ll find," RLB says. "Sorry, I don’t remember," Thornberry says smiling.

None of the candidates say they would abolish private schools. Notable.

With talk of how Labour wanted to "nationalise everything" and "get rid of tuition fees" with "no idea how to do it", Lisa Nandy is really helping Keir Starmer pitch left (while helping herself to the votes of those Corbynsceptics for whom his platform is now too left-wing).

Lisa Nandy strongest when talking about immigration. "I think you can win the argument on this." Links this to her family background.

Starmer talks about his recent family experiences with the NHS and what those nurses would think of this debate. RLB reiterates that while she is personally in favour of FOM, "the reality will be very different" and Labour must "fight to make sure new immigration system is fair".

RLB on trans rights pledges: "We need to protect rights of trans people… It’s not legitimate to put anybody’s rights up for debate in our party." Transphobic to talk about biological sex? "It depends in what context. To refer it in a transphobic way, of course it’s transphobic."

RLB: "I am a firm believer in self-ID. We need to end the discussion on this." On whether Labour members should be expelled for certain views on gender: "It would be assessed on a case by case basis."

Thornberry confirmed she hasn't signed pledges because: "It talks about hate. And I got in trouble recently talking about hate... To discuss certain organisations as hate organisations, I have some problem with."

Nandy confirmed she *has* signed the pledge, saying: "We’re in danger of overcomplicating this."

Starmer says what he has said before: "Trans rights are human rights... Treating it as a political football does everyone a disservice." Not pressed on whether he would sign pledges.

Erm, immediately after saying on #BBCNewsnight (not broadcast live) that she hadn't signed the pledges and had concerns about them, Thornberry has tweeted this:
