Lombardy confirms that 37 patients have recovered.
So, 305 positive cases remaining.
Excellent news that confirm that patients do recover.

@DPCgov Italy @MinisteroSalute reports as of midnight last night, 282 tests awaiting. This morning they were completed.

Italy:
528 positive cases of which:
278 are self-isolating at home (no need for hospital care)
159 recovered with symptoms in hospital
37 in intensive care

Positive num are "certified" by the latter or the former? Dr Borrrelli "@MinisteroSalute is part of the "system of civil protection" (? cryptic wording by DrB)

All take part in a coordinated way. @MinisteroSalute confirms data and samples from regions. (My comment: this reflects the complexity and conflicts in Italy: Regions vs National)

@DPCgov @MinisteroSalute @Esercito @poliziadistato Q from audience: other nations (France and Germany) have adopted a more targeted screening (i.e. criteria for taking samples more stringent). Does this mean Italy is taking too many samples? A by DrB: we adopted max precaution and screened extensively to identify size of clusters

A from DrB: from Lombardy, because @MinisteroSalute doesn't "double check" recovered status (as it does with +ve samples). Recovery is when 2 negative samples are obtained at lest 24h apart (throat swabs)

@DPCgov @MinisteroSalute @Esercito @poliziadistato DrBorrelli highlights that the data support that there are patients who have recovered from the infection without needing hospital care. This is the important news. Tot 40 people in Italy have recovered

@DPCgov @MinisteroSalute @Esercito @poliziadistato Q from audience about data, as @MinisteroSalute (i.e. Italy) reports 282 confirmed cases, but data from all regions is 528 cases. DrB: the data to be shared with @WHO must come from @MinisteroSalute (national authority) which will confirm that data we are sharing (from Regions).
