When it comes to voter protection, we often focus on the suppressive efforts of Republican Secretaries of State and don’t stop to recognize the progress of our Democratic friends like @AlexPadilla4CA who have made positive reforms in states across the country. #capol

.@AlexPadilla4CA, who heads @DemsOfState, has led the charge of his counterparts across the country in ensuring free and fair elections for all, with much needed transparency, ingenuity and equity, both in California and beyond.

20.6 million Californians are registered to vote - 82 percent of the eligible population and growing. New this year, CA will have same-day reg, prepaid return envelopes for vote-by-mail and more. I commend these positive reforms.

On Tues, CA hosts the largest primary in the country. Because of Sec Padilla’s diligence of making voting more accessible and counting all eligible ballots & the massive number of votes, CA results come in slower than in other states. He has been transparent about what to expect.

I have the utmost confidence in California elections under Secretary Padilla’s leadership. Republican secretaries of state should take note. I encourage Californians to visit his retooled website, vote.ca.gov, to find all the resources they need.
