Today, I’m traveling back to #WashingtonState w/the state's congressional delegation. We'll be visiting the #WA Emergency Operations Center & meet with the @GovInslee, the Vice President & the outstanding team working overtime to detect, prevent & respond to #coronavirus in #WA.
Yesterday, I voted for – & the House passed – an $8.3 billion funding package to support federal & local public health response efforts to #coronavirus.
This significant package will help save lives in #WashingtonState & around the nation. seattletimes.com/nation-world/c…
Our community & state have been at the epicenter of #coronavirus in the United States. Our outstanding public health infrastructure & frontline health care workers have taken on a significant burden – including $200,000 in unexpected weekly costs just in #KingCounty.
This funding package provides much needed relief & resources, including $1 billion for state, county & city public health agencies & local health care systems. Importantly, this will allow King County & other communities to upgrade & purchase isolation & quarantine facilities.
The funding package also allows for $7 billion in low-interest loans to support the small businesses, like many in our community, that have been negatively impacted by this public health emergency. #coronavirus
