The US needs a #COVID19LockdownNow to protect public health. We must must follow the lead of China, Italy, and Spain and halt this pandemic in its tracks.

To do this morally, we must implement:
– logistical support to ensure those in isolation have basic needs met, especially for those most vulnerable AKA #HumaneIsolation
– a moratorium on rent and mortgage
– a people's bailout AKA #EmergencyUBI
And in the era of rising ethnoreligious fascism globally, we must tread carefully to protect public health, democracy, and freedom. This might mean having it be time-limited and brief (e.g. 10 days).
Speaking of which, we can't allow the idea of a #COVID19LockdownNow be a rightwing thing otherwise it will become fascist implementation.
As Newt Gingrich piles on to this idea we need more liberal and left voices to get involved as well.
While perhaps not calling for a complete #COVID19LockdownNow (i.e. businesses closed too), I was glad to see these demands for closing schools, public spaces, and events from @Asaf_Bitton.
Glad to see #ShutdownNYC emerging. It makes sense and we can do it humanely.
