Alright, #PixarinApril fans! Time for our live discussion on Finding Nemo. I'd like to frame it around some of the key lines from the film. I've included those in the thread below. You can respond to any one of them by talking about why you think it's important for the film.
"Just keep swimming." --Dory #PixarinApril
"He says it's time to let go. Everything's gonna be alright." --Dory #PixarinApril
"You think you can do these things, but you can't, Nemo!" --Marlin #PixarinApril
"Well, you can't never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him." --Dory #PixarinApril
"I look at you, and I'm home." --Dory #PixarinApril
Bonus points for offering your theory on why it's Dory who gets all of these amazing lines. #PixarinApril
This, to me, is one of the most important lines in the film, and it's on my list of the top 10 lines in all of the Pixar movies. Why? #PixarinApril
Because it is exactly what Marlin needs to hear and frames his journey as both a literal one (to find his son) and a psychological/emotional one (to let go of the tragedy that has shaped his life so that he can be a better father). #PixarinApril
Up will deal more beautifully with the second point--and more allegorically too--but you couldn't have Up if Finding Nemo hadn't tackled some of these issues earlier, I think. #PixarinApril
