Been reading pieces about the @NFL statement. How can we take them seriously until they make things right w/#ColinKaepernick. Strong piece @hbryant42. How will we hold @NFL accountable? They exiled a player for speaking out against racism.

espn.com/nfl/story/_/id… @hbryant42

@NFL @hbryant42 From @hbryant42: 'next step toward real truth is opening door to signing Kaepernick -- a move closed for ~4yrs. If remains closed, this flashpoint will be remembered as moment the NFL admitted it handed out a life sentence, admitted it was wrong -- & still did nothing about it.'

@NFL @hbryant42 And fans are complicit… we all are. It is not just that one person was wronged; his career destroyed in plain sight of the world; but the message was clear; stay in your place… and fans, what did we do? We let it happen. And the kneeling was mischaracterized… what did we do?

@NFL @hbryant42 And blowback from wealthy owners (and complicit fans, us) punishing a Black man for speaking truth about racism was to intimidate others from questioning the status quo; a status quo that harms so many. Maybe we can do now what we should have done then. Let these voices be heard.

@NFL @hbryant42 The influence of @NFL must be focused on addressing what they have done.. & be part of the solution for the future. And the fans must hold the league accountable… in words and actions. Their treatment of #ColinKaepernick was a racist action. Condoned by the nation. Time to fix.
