/ Official statement from @GovNedLamont re: settlement reached with ACLU on COVID response in prisons, “This settlement affirms the approach that the DOC has been taking since the beginning of this pandemic. The department will continue to act in this responsible manner....”

/Commissioner Cook said, “....Unity and collaboration will always prevail In fact, I believe Connecticut will be viewed as the balanced, compassionate and collaborative example to follow during such crisis in the future.”

/ The ACLU response can be found here. acluct.org/en/press-relea…

/ My hot take: It should’ve take a lawsuit to create the opportunity for collaboration or to recognize human rights. Many voices asked officials to come to the table early on. If you are impacted or have been paying attention in the slightest you see two narratives here.

/These statements from CT officials on their hope for unity & thier willingness to treat people with dignity are gross mischaracterizations that must be recognized. Thank you @acluct for your work. We are watching and will continue to make our voices heard, to stand with you.

My passion gets away from me with autocorrect - it *SHOULDN’T have taken a lawsuit
