Everyone should enjoy good work as a right. Our new report sets out 8 ideas to form a new social contract for a better future of work for all. [Thread] [1/10] #RSAbridges bit.ly/2YmAKZ6
️⃣ A union innovation deal: to help grow innovative trade unions so, in the long term, we move towards a self-organising social contract where powerful workers secure good work on their terms [2/10]
️⃣ Works councils: to help scale stakeholder worker power over the economy and technology, while moving us towards a more corporatist approach to securing good work – at firm and social contract level [3/10]
️⃣ A data covenant for workers: to provide a minimum universal floor of data protection for workers, with enhanced rights and power over technology-driven changes to management [4/10]
️⃣ Data trusts: to increase stakeholder worker power over the lucrative data economy, providing institutions that could help us move towards a self-organising equilibrium in the long term [5/10]
️⃣ Universal basic income: to provide a safety net that is both resilient to economic shocks and truly empowers workers to transform their circumstances, releasing them from being trapped by low pay or bad work [6/10]
️⃣ A portable benefits system: to expand entitlements to all workers and allow true ‘flexicurity’ in the labour market [7/10]
️⃣ Personal learning accounts: to provide a universal entitlement for re-training and protect workers from automation [8/10]
️⃣ Job security centres: to transform our retraining and employability services in line with the needs of the future of work [9/10]
