The project currently uses web application (Rediet.org - under construction now), traditional media (through a program in @ERISAT3) & social media (FB & YT) to assist #Eritreans in search of their loved ones whose status remains unknown.

#MissingEritreans was 1st started by @meronina on Facebook. After 10 years of managing the page by herself, Meron has recently handed down the torch to young activists at Ubuntu Haus who continue to do an excellent job in expanding the project.
Hundreds of thousands of Eritreans have been forced out of their homeland due to unprecedented oppression, unlimited national service and complete lack of basic human rights and freedom under the regime ruling in #Eritrea.

The risky search for freedom & normalcy of life outside their homeland has made thousands of #Eritreans victims of trafficking, kidnapping, slavery & organ harvesting. Many more thousands have perished in the Mediterranean Sea, Sahara Desert & other places all over the world.
The uncertainties & lack of closure of the disappeared members have long caused painful trauma to many #EritreanFamilies.

The project #MissingEritreans aims to solve the cases of missing Eritreans by creating a database of missing individuals, disseminating information, and sharing images of missing Eritreans to improve the effectiveness of their outreach and investigation.
@MEritreans Facebook page, currently has over 8, 000 followers & works hard to create awareness, disseminate information about missing individuals & motivate #Eritrean communities abroad to help provide information that may help locate the disappeared.
