The first time I donated was in school and I was more excited about the experience than the actual impact.
They ran the tests & I was fit to donate but my friend almost cried because she was told she could not donate as she was anaemic.

Anyway, they talked me through the whole process and the person handling my donation was nice and funny, so I didn't "outwardly" panic about the size of the needle.

Needle in, (I didn't believe it could fit honestly) they handed me a nice squishy ball to squeeze (that was fun) and it didn’t take time before the blood bag was full.

They told me to keep away from rigorous activities for the day like jumping, etc., and then gave me a tin of milk and noodles before I went back to my room. I only felt slightly dizzy but that was very brief.

A year after my first donation, I had to donate again and there was a real need for it then. I was working in a hospital for my IT and a pregnant woman in labour was losing blood.
They had already used up all they had in the blood bank.

Since I'm O+, I donated. I didn't even feel dizzy after. I went back to work for the day and forgot I’d donated blood until I looked at the patch on my arm later.
