Hey y'all! I'm back! So I started #BlackInAstro to show to NB astronomers that our lives are valuable too!
We are not a trend! We are people too. Often times we are treated as if we don't matter. My beautiful and intelligent Black sisters and brothers in astronomy has shown continuously that they deserve to be in that space.

I've had my own personal worries, as I mentioned in the article. There's often chatter about why there's so few of us in astronomy and several excuses from NB folks who haven't lived this experience. Telling our stories is the only way that we can show astronomers that we matter.

This really hits home for me because I live in Chicago. Most NB students are told not to visit certain areas.
If I'm being honest, typically NB folks have NOTHING to worry about while visiting a friend in a predominately Black neighborhood.
In order to move forward, folks really have to do a self-reflection prior to making changes for the sake of performative allyship.
