This was outstanding. My feeble attempt at a summary:

Human ideologies take a *good* thing in God's creation and deifies it to replace God as sovereign. This is the fatal mistake that ends up dehumanizing. The problem of ideology is at its core idolatry.

Liberalism lifts up the individual (a good!). But when the individual is made the savior and sovereign over ALL of life, it results in the loss of social cohesion and self-serving isolation.

Nationalism lifts up the ethnic group or nation-state (a good!). But when one ethnic group is made the Savior and Sovereign over ALL of life, it results in racial oppression and the violence of empire.

Conservatism lifts up tradition and history (a good!). But when tradition is made the Savior and Sovereign over ALL of life, it results in the perpetuation and sacralization of oppressions of the past.

Socialism lifts up the underclass (a good!). But when one class is made the Savior and Sovereign over ALL of life, it results in class warfare and statist control.

Democracy lifts up the people (a good!). But when the will of "the people" is made the Savior and Sovereign over ALL of life, it results in mob rule and the tyranny of the majority.

Capitalism lifts up free economic production and exchange (a good!). But when economic gain is made the Savior and Sovereign over ALL of life, it results in commodification, economic oppression, and greed.

Apart from our worship of the God in whose image we are made, who alone is qualified to be the sovereign and savior, the good that is found in any ideology becomes the deified ends that justify oppressive means.

Also, now that @DTKoyzis himself engaged with my tweet, I want to ask, with a bit if fear and trepidation: Did I get the basic gist of it? 😬😬😬 Anything you'd tweak or add?
