2/7...her immensely empathetic nature. When this piece came out yesterday and congratulatory calls were pouring in, she called to say how sad she was that 64 yr old Tommy Gene Lindsey had fallen through the cracks again - both in life and in death.
3/7 She wanted to dedicate this feature to his untimely and preventable death which occurred just a week ago on June 22nd in a solitary cell in Smith county jail. The second custody death in less than two months. Particularly tragic b'cos Lindsey had a history of mental illness.

He was being held for a minor charge. The immoral practice of #cashbail killed him. He would be alive today if it weren't for want of $1,000. Last year, 110 people died in TX county jails, most were being held pretrial.
