Today in #Rakesden...
Owner of a ground floor flat is removing old frames of bars from the windows (lowers bars having been removed for fire safety long ago) so I called dibs on them. Have measured and with breeze blocks to fix in place they will perfectly fill the space along from the pallet.
So as long as I can make sure they're secure at the base, the cowboy clematis will be able to grow right along to the corner to improve my view from the windae.
Lemonbalm clump dug up from border and potted meanwhile, earmarked for @basic_charnel.
Summer harvest, sage drying and lemonbalm just hung.
No pics cause it started raining, but I hacked back and dug out some of the big clump of what I think is Acanthus mollis in Laburnumley, still unflowering and mostly snail food. Some rooty bits stuck in the back lane as it seems to be one of those that sprouts from such.
I figure if it takes in the back lane, the snails are welcome to it there. I may try moving a whack of it elsewhere in the garden & offer the gardening neighbours of the next door close that space between the lemonbalm & Saint John's wort to play with.
Or if they don't come up with any plans for it, I'll just think about something else to go in there myself. It's clearly not happy there, just a big flat sprawl of munched foliage with nae flowers making it hard to get access to the blackcurrant & redcurrant bushes.
Wondering if it's worth trying a bit of it in a big pot up on the cubbies to make it a bit of a trek for the snails to get to the budding flower spikes, their munching of which each year looks to be the most likely reason for it not flowering.
