A stunning confirmation of what we've been seeing: Black, Latinx, and Native people are being disproportionately impacted by COVID.

Latinx and Black people have been 3X as likely to become infected as their white neighbors, and nearly 2X as likely to die. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

This is not unrelated to the fact that Black and Latinx individuals are disproportionately the heroes working on the frontlines of this pandemic. Many don't have the option to stay home because they need their paycheck. So they're forced to go back to work where they get sick.

Diana said her husband got sick at a construction site in April. She and her brother soon fell ill too. Diana is still battling symptoms.

“We have to go out to work,” she said. “We have to pay our rent. We have to pay our utilities. We just have to keep working.”

We must address this head on! Let's fight to ensure frontline workers have hazard pay, paid leave, & PPE.

Let's guarantee health care with Medicare for All at a time when Black and Latinx people are more likely to be uninsured.

Let's invest in economic & environmental justice.

And let's pass my Paycheck Recovery Act so businesses don't have to choose between closing permanently and bringing their workers back before it's safe. This proposal covers the paychecks of workers and helps businesses—including small and minority owned ones—survive this crisis.
