Welcome to our second Legislative Focus week of the campaign! This week we will covering five topics that go towards fighting corruption here in Missouri.

Tonight’s topic will cover preventing our state government from overturning the will of the people. Sound familiar?

It should. Here’s why.

In 2018, we Missourians voted and passed @CleanMissouri by over 62%. This cleaned up our politics, changed lobbyists gifts, and created a redrawing process so our state could have fair district maps. Pretty cool right?

Usually that would be the end of it. However, here in Missouri we have a supermajority in our legislature that’s controlled by the @MOHouseGOP and they’ve had this control for the past decade.

In a supermajority, you can pass anything, block anything, and overturn anything.

A supermajority is not a fair representation of our state. In 2016, MO voted for Trump with 56% of the vote. In our State House, the @MOHouseGOP controls 70% of the seats.

In a democracy, multiple sides are debated upon before finding the right solution. MO doesn’t have that.

Back to @CleanMissouri.

The @MOHouseGOP loves their supermajority and will do anything to keep it. After we voted #CleanMo into law in 2018, do you know the first agenda item on the GOP’s agenda for the 2019 session? Altering #CleanMO to strip it of its power.

Luckily, the @MOHouseGOP wasn’t able to put @CleanMissouri on the ballot in 2019. But, one year later, they were more determined than ever.

The MO GOP amended #CleanMO to strip its power away, and they put it on the ballot for this November 3rd, 2020.

We Missourians now have the opportunity to vote on a new bill, one that would regress our state politics and implement an unfair redrawing process, with some of the worst gerrymandering language ever created. It’s called Amendment 3.

We must vote NO on Amendment 3.

Elected officials and public servants need to listen and respect the will of the voters. It’s in the title to “serve the public.”

It’s clear our @MOHouseGOP doesn’t want to serve the public, they are only concerned with their own agenda.

We have the opportunity to stop this.

We only need 8 House Districts to flip blue in 2020 to end the @MOHouseGOP supermajority. Our 16th House District is one of 8 targeted districts that are highly flippable, and we are working nonstop in order to make this happen.

Ending the @MOHouseGOP supermajority would be a win for all Missourians and for our democracy.

I believe Missouri deserves a fair and balanced democracy, with a government that puts the people first, period.

We must look past our party labels and focus on finding solutions.

If you’re ready for a fair and balanced democracy here in Missouri, join #Team16 today, and be a part of a new decade of Missouri politics. It’s time to put YOU the people first, PERIOD.
