Job! Head of the No 10 Analytical Unit. Offering direct counsel to the PM, so would be wonderful for everyone in the UK if this job went to someone who knows and cares about #dataethics and algorithmic justice. Civil service job but open to external candidates.
Rather awkwardly described as a pseudo start-up, which presumably means there’s no existing infra and they’ll be using OKRs, not that they’ll be scrabbling for VC cash. (Although, who knows?)

I am sure this might go to someone from a shiny ML start-up, but! Data ethicists! Your country needs you to show the limits of quantitative data and advocate for the fair and just use of data.
It’s very sweet they are calling it “10ds”, complete with lower-case letters, when of course the real reason to take the job is not for slides and free snacks but because you’ll be helping to run the actual country. (Bet there are bean bags though.)
Lastly, given the “inclusive lanyards” burn in Gove’s Ditchley speech, and Cumming’s predelection for the US Naval Intelligence lanyard, I wonder if they have an agency on retainer working in the 10ds lanyard design right now.
(If you get an interview I might have an O’Reilly lanyard somewhere that I can lend you.)
