At Dulwich College, @AuthorsCC are batting against the Bar of England & Wales XI.
Currently in negotiations with @CCampbell_Agent over where I should bat. Since I’m recovering from injury & may not be able to bowl, I’m naturally pushing for the Ben Stokes position: 4.
A good start against some hostile bowling: @AuthorsCC are 39/0 after 10 overs.
Meanwhile, @anthony_mcgowan - due in at 3 - is gearing up to deconstruct the bowling...
After 24 overs, @AuthorsCC are 89/3.
I AM IN NEXT!!!
FFS. Run out for 0 by a freakish direct hit. And after I’d played myself in with 5 immaculate forward defences too.
I hate cricket.
The Government should ban it.
The general consensus is that I would probably have got 50
Fair, measured, objective reporting. https://t.co/rwd1tzMAjw
Off their 40 overs @AuthorsCC make 174/ 8. An explosive 50 from @saadi , reached with successive sixes off the last 2 balls, sees us scramble to respectability.
Rain stops play, with the Barristers 54/4 off 12 overs. Sensational bowling from @benfalkwriter sees him take 3 wickets in 4 balls. @CCampbell_Agent gets one of the barristers lbw, but the barrister then uses his legal skills to persuade Charlie that he was not in fact out.
The match is abandoned, but applying Duckworth-Lewis we win, so there it is - an @AuthorsCC victory.
AND my #EliteSportsInjury held up, so yay!
