Truly a watershed moment in India’s development story.
A thread
So impressed with the focus areas of New Education Policy. Till date HRD ministry structured it like a means to an end. Rebranding to Education Ministry sounds perfect.
Purpose of education should be your evolution into a better you and not just employability. This change of focus from Human Resource to Education was very much needed.
To be able to achieve anything, things start with appreciation for right things, rebranding perhaps aims at that.
Plus, the attempt at trying to create greater sync between educational courses and employable skills is impressive.
Listing down some highlights and my views
1. Multiple exit options in degrees & Vocational Courses to be part of mainstream courses : Will promote people to execute their learnings. Such a boost to entrepreneurship.
2. Creation of E-courses in multiple languages would help more people pursue their interests rather than be constrained by number of available seats. None should be denied of quality education. Goes with benefits of technology.
3. Academic Bank of Credit is a very novel initiative that will promote culture of learning.
4. Foreign universities setting up campuses in India capitalises on the biggest power that India possess - Youth !!
5. All institutes to be research Institutes : Wow !! Biggest thing missing in Indian education sector so far is being addressed now !!
6. Music, Art, Literature to be taught in all schools. No holistic development in possible without focus on these areas.
