IT'S HERE. Five years after the first edition, the *brand new* edition of THE FACE OF THE DEEP drops today!
Read on for more about it, and how to get the full audiobook (read by me, with an original ambient score) for free. #TheFaceOfTheDeep
I began this book in 2010, as part of my journey to seek how the Holy Spirit is present in & through our lives. This idea captured me--that at the core of the Christian message was this beautiful "secret"--that the Creator's own life becomes OUR life as we come to life in Christ.
The more I read, thought, wandered the woods and tossed rocks in creeks (you know, the important stuff), the more it became clear--God's Spirit is not relegated to cold rationality but swells with earthy, wild life--the same life that made and renews all things--Christ's life.
Out of that, came this book. 14 creative non-fiction essays that work with the Bible, personal narrative, and a deep wonder at the world to trace one man's connection to God's Spirit at work in all things wild, good, and true.
The book features *incredible* original iconography from @martinfrenchpdx (martinfrench.com). Here's just one, on "The Birth From Above."
Now, @David_C_Cook (in a rare move) is re-releasing the book. New cover, fresh interior, and a lush, gorgeous audio version, read by me and scored by my brilliant brother Luke. It's so good. And you can get it as a free bonus when you buy the new edition.
It's easy. Just go here: pauljpastor.com/the-face-of-th…
Buy the book, and enter your email and confirmation code lower on the page. that's it.
Now, I'll be sharing a bit more, but will you please help me spread the message of this book? Its quiet focus on the roots of our life and faith feel more important than ever in a noisy world where wonder can seem in short supply. Buy a copy or two? Share with others?
My hope is that this new edition of a beloved book can bring fresh attention not only to the Spirit's work of creation, renewal, justice, and united diversity, but that we will feel new power to simply live as our deepest and truest selves, after the example of Jesus.
