You find a felt purse masquerading as a rounded cobble. You unzip it.
Out spill a cascade of small pink crystals. #YouFindARock. Many of them, really.
You know what they are because your friendly mineral dealer identifies them, but that doesn't stop you from investigating.
You stare at the pile, reminding yourself that despite appearances it is not actually ham.
>
> Lick
It tastes like nothing, not a hint or trace of flavour. It is a taste-neutral void so bland you can’t even use it as a palate cleanser.
>
> zap
Recognizing sapphire and ruby are types of corundum used in lasers, you evilly cackle as you prepare to exploit the mineral's electrical properties.
You zap with a variety of light sources. "Huh!" you muse, "Transparent in ultraviolet and infrared!"
>
> Scratch
You run your thumbnail down a crystal face.
Nothing happens.
You pull out your trusty field knife. The tip dulls and the crystal remains unmarred.
You dig in your pockets for a masonry bit.
It does exactly nothing.
“...um.” you ponder.
>
> SMASHY-SMASHY
You pull out your trusty rock hammer, slip on your safety glasses, wind up, and SMASH down on the mineral.
Your hammer bounces off, slightly scratched.
You swear the corundum smirks.
>
> Be awed
Sure, you could bust out diamonds to scratch it, but you redirect just how tough corundum is and decide to back off.
“Corundum is one impressive workhorse of a mineral,” you whisper in awe, starting at the pile.
You give it a fond pet and see it back down. Gently.
