"in the 1st World War, a Brigade major in Allenby's army in Palestine was on one occasion searching the bible with the light of a candle, looking for a certain name his Brigade

had received orders to take a village that stood on a rocky prominence on the other side of a deep valley.
it was called Michmash and the name seemed somehow familiar.
the Brigade Major found the name in this passage of scripture, " And Saul and Jonathan his son and the

people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin, but the Philistines encamped in MICHMASH"(1st Sam.13v16).
the Major then continued to read the account in 1 Sam, which goes onto tell how Jonathan and his armour bearer went out at night to spyout the

it set off such confusion that whenthe rest of the 30,000 man Philistine army arrived on the scene, they thought they were surrounded by Saul's army and started killing each other (1 Sam 14v20)
