#Belarus THREAD
During the firts three night after the elections, thousands of people in many Belarusian cities gathered on the streets to protest against the rigged elections. In many places, most notably in Minsk, demonstrations were brutally pacified.
After three days, the nature of the protests has changed. People come out during the day, with flowers in their hands, line up along the main city arteries and in the squares.
Employees of many enterprises, including those of key importance for the Belarusian economy, joined the protests. They demand the recounting of votes/new elections, stopping the violence and releasing the detainees.
So far, however, there has been no signal from the authorities that they will agree to talk to the protesters.
It can also be assumed that the only whispers that Minsk recive from Moscow sounds like "no negotiatios".
At the moment this is the best scenario for Russia - a weak Lukashenka, without social legitimacy and recognition by the West.
In fact, it does not require any effort from Russia. The rest - the new elections, not to mention direct intervention - will no longer be a "no-cost victory" from Moscow's point of view.
