2 1/2 years ago I committed to reading a book a week until I’d filled up this shelf. Tonight, I got to put the last book on that shelf.

I know it’s cheesy, but this literally changed my life. It took forever, but I can’t tell you how worth it it was. Okay, that’s all.

My five favorite on the shelf:

5) The Great Siege of Malta.

Most interesting, intense military history I’ve ever read.

4) Nothing To Envy

Haunting account of life inside North Korea. I’ll never forget the first hand accounts in here.

3) American Kingpin.

Crazy story of rise and fall of The Silk Road. Riveting.

2) Battle Cry Of Freedom

Best history book I’ve ever read. No doubt.

1) The Things They Carried.

Most thought provoking, evocative, well-written book I’ve ever read. Will read every year until I die.
