Quick thread on some actionable advice for all you guys out there who look for some specific info from bigger accounts
Instead of cold DM’ing them out of the blue with a question, do an advanced keyword search of their tweets to see if they’ve already answered it.
With a lot of the guys on here, they’ve written about whatever you want to know about.
But they don’t necessarily want to re-hash everything they’ve already covered.
Witn no prior rapport built, you’re less likely to get a complete, in-depth response
This isn’t to say if you DM someone, you won’t get a good response, but just put some work in first.
It doesn’t even take much effort on your part, and you may get your question answered completely from their previous tweets.
How to do a keyword search.
This is fairly simple but I’ll lay it out for those who don’t know.
First open twitter on your pc/laptop. It’s much easier on that platform than phone
You can literally google “twitter advanced search”
Once you open up the advanced search, you just plug in the query you want to use.
Say your looking for anything I’ve written about fat loss.
Plug in “fat loss” (with the quotes) into the “tweets contains all of these words” section. You can play around with the queries.
Then plug in what account, or accounts you’re interested in, in the “from these accounts” bar.
You can mess around with different queries. Use “none of these words”, different date settings, engagement level, etc
Then press search
It’s that easy. You now have all the tweets that the account you’re interested in has put on on a specific topic.
Read them. Hopefully you get your question answered.
Very likely, if you’re looking to a specific account for specific info, There’s a reason. They’re probably somewhat of an expert on here in that domain.
That means they’ve likely tweeted about exactly what you’re looking for in the past.
I haven’t been on here long enough, and am not nearly big enough to know the level of DMs some of the bigger guys get.
But most of them have been tweeting for 6, 12, 18, 24 months or more.
That’s a lot of info you have at your disposal if you know how to look.
From here, you can read, maybe comment on a past tweet. Or ask a question about a past tweet.
Lots of options guys.
I want to help you not get roasted on here for being autistic in the DMs, randomly sending cold messages to accounts you’ve never interacted w/ or follow
That being said, this is NOT to say you shouldnt use the DMs. Use them smarter
I’d be much more receptive to a DM saying, “I read your content on X, & really liked aspects A, B, and C. But I had a question about D”
Than, “how do I get big, bro”, “how do I make money, bro”
Interact a little on the timeline first. Try to ask question there first.
Almost everyone in this sphere are great dudes who LOVE to help ppl.
But it’s time consuming to just lay out in-depth analysis on a topic for a single person. Especially if they’ve already covered it
I try to give out as much info to dudes who DM as I can. But it’s a lot of effort when DMs start piling up.
And I’m just a bit shy of 2.5k. Imagine what it’s like for more established guys with 5-30k followers
All in all, do a little bit of research on your end. Interact on the TL and build a bit of rapport.
This will dramatically increase the number and quality of DM responses you get.
