My family went often to see cousins in Ireland. In early 2000's one complained "it's not the same. You don't see the thatch roofs and the peet stoves. You don't see the carriages and herds of sheep. It's all built up now."
My Uncle replied brilliantly:
Yeah, how dare the Irish ruin our vacation with their desire to live in the modern world. They should stay forever in the past."
That's my attitude towards #PebbleMine. There's a ton of misinformation (it's "near" Bristol Bay 😂). But the most concerning thing is this: Alaska is not your vacation spot. It's not a big state park which should live frozen to reserve our memories
Alaskan more than anyone do both: develop their resources AND love their land. And trust me fellow lower 48ers, Alaskans love Alaska much more than we possibly can. Because it's theirs.
If we don't develop #PebbleMine we will buy metals & minerals from other countries where they do NOT protect the environment. Let's not give them the jobs and the tax revenue to boot. Let's stop writing checks to other countries for resources we need and have in America.
