"What a great time to be alive, if you love the Theatre of the Absurd.”

"All the world's a stage."

In theatrical magic misdirection is a form of deception in which the performer draws an audience's attention to one thing to distract it from another.

Managing audience attention is the aim of ALL theater & the foremost requirement of all magic acts.

Let's start with the absolute basics, shall we?

We have Darkness, and we have Light.

Darkness is the absence of Light.

Light, the absence of Darkness.

They depend on one another as we depend on oxygen.

Abundant and free, yet one cannot and will not exist, without the other.

What lies between Darkness & Light?

Shadows.

Like the fire that cast light on the walls of Plato's cave, the human condition is forever bound to the *impressions* that are received through the senses.

We cannot see what's happening behind us, only what's projected ahead of us.

"We accept the reality of the world with which we're presented."

It's as simple as that.

We grow, and as we grow our circumstances & personas will change, as our belief systems will change, but rarely do we think to scrutinize the structural underpinnings of our very existence.

The truth is so often the opposite of what we are told that we can longer turn our heads around far enough to see it.

The problem is not that people don’t know; it’s that they don’t know they don’t know.

As in Plato’s cave we are chained to a false-reality unable to turn away.

To subvert is to unsettle.

Each & every day, we awaken with a pre-programmed assumption that our memories are both intact and real.

If we encounter something that conflicts with that reality, our brains will reject the anomaly, literally blinding us to what we can't comprehend.
