Why is onam celebrated?
A festival the ignorant think of as a harvest festival but in reality is a yearly reminder of a divine PR stunt that went wrong!
#Onam is celebrated for 10 days , beginning from the Vaman dvadashi

It is celebrated to honor the great sacrifice of King Bali. The term “bali” which is used for sacrifice, comes from the name of this great King.
King Bali was the grandson of another great King , Prahlada
Prahlad was a bhakta of Vishnu & his grandson
inherited that trait from him.
King Bali conquered the the bhuloka and the swargalokas. The sons of Aditi, who are called as “devas”, were expelled from swarga
As a result ,mother Aditi performed austerities to please Vishnu. Bagawan Vishnu appeared as her son Vamana
Vamana visited the yajna of King Bali, who was a great devotee and who performed the yajna with lots of charities under the guidance of his great guru, Shukracharya.
Looking very short ,like a dwarf, Bagwan Vishnu entered the yajna mandap of Bali. Bali welcomed him and requested
him to accept some dakshina, as was the norm.
The Bhagavatam mentions about numerous devotees of Narayana or Krishna, but this is the only one where the Bagawan Himself goes asking for something from a devotee. The greatness of Bali Maharaj is exceptional
Bali made a sankalpa & accepted Vaman’s demand of 3 steps of land. Shukracharya realized that this was Vishnu trying to fool Bali, so he asked Bali to refuse, but Bali didn’t give up on dharma.
Vamana then covered swarga & bhuloka with 2 steps.
To test Bali further , he showed anger & asked him where should he get this third step of land, since Bali had no place left now! Bali offered his head and thus he instantly achieved a position that even devas cannot attain.
Vamana ordered Bali to leave the
swargaloka for the devas and sent him to “Sutal” loka, which is said to be superior even to swarga. In the next “manvantar”, Bali will get the throne of Indra
Bagawan too has promised Prahalad that he will NVR kill any Asura who is lineage of Prahalad
It is said that Bali Maharaj is blessed with immortality, so he returns to the earth during #Onam. He is also worshiped on the day after Deepavali too, all over Bharat
Onam is celebrated in Kerala from the period of Vaishnavite Kings of Kulasekhara or later Cheras🙏
Though a Hindu festival, non-Hindu communities of Kerala participate in Onam celebrations considering it as a cultural festival
However, some non-Hindus in Kerala denounce its celebration as a cultural event because they consider it as a religious festival.
#Onam is a celebration for this divine pastime of the Bagawan & His great devotee Bali Maharaj
Don't believe the commies PR stunts as culture festival & harvest festival
This is to pacify the Xtian & M population - who too want to celebrate this festival & justify it!
